Weathershield™ Acoustical Sealant

DESCRIPTION

Weathershield™ Acoustical Sealant has been developed with a unique blend of synthetic rubber and polymers to provide an efficient sealing and bedding compound to aid in the reduction of sound transmission in wall assembly systems, and to bond polyethylene vapour barrier sheeting to many substrates.

USES

W/S Acoustical Sealant is suitable for interior applications in buildings on substrates of metal, concrete, masonry, asbestos-board, gypsum-board, plaster or wood.

W/S Acoustical Sealant may be used as a bedding compound over vibrating elements, electrical boxes or other items recessed in or passing through walls to reduce sound transmission.

W/S Acoustical Sealant is also compatible with foam-board insulation as well as lap sealing of sheet metal.

4. Easy gunning at – 15 C.
5. Non-stringy formulation.
6. Forms a permanently resilient long lasting seal.
7. Conforms to CAN/CGSB-19.21-M87.

LIMITATIONS

Due to its non-drying nature, W/S Acoustical Sealant is normally used in concealed areas, but it should be noted that it is normal for W/S Acoustical Sealant to accumulate dirt. However, this dirt retention will not affect the functional performance of this material.

DIRECTIONS

Surface must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust and other foreign matter which would inhibit the formation of a positive seal.

No primer is required.

APPLICATION

Apply a band of sealant along the joint, cleaning the excess as work progresses. Multiple beads may effectively reduce sound transmissions when properly applied.

CLEAN-UP

Use mineral spirits to clean tools, etc.

STORAGE LIFE

W/S Acoustical Sealant has a storage life of one year when stored under proper conditions.
