HiBARTM Insulation HiBARTM is a ULC listed, spray applied mineral fibre insulation, for fire rating structural steel. HiBARTM also has thermal and acoustical properties. It can be spray applied over rigid structural substrates and exterior or partition walls. It provides acoustical treatment for ceilings and walls in noisy production areas or large rooms such as gymnasiums or swimming pools where both sound absorption and aesthetic enhancement is desired. Condensation control is also provided on exposed structural components that are in contact with cold exterior surfaces. HiBARTM is distributed exclusively by Celufibre Industries, Inc. Basic Uses Spray-applied fireproofing for use over rigid structural substrates such as open web steel joists, beams, columns, floor/ceiling assemblies and exterior or partition wall units. Thermal insulation for prefabricated metal buildings, corrugated metal roof assemblies, underside of concrete slabs and masonry or metal wall assemblies. Spray-applied acoustical treatment for ceilings and upper walls in noisy production areas or in large rooms such as gymnasiums or swimming pools where both sound absorption and aesthetic enhancement is desired. Spray-applied treatment to provide condensation control on exposed structural components that are in contact with cold exterior surfaces. Limitations HiBARTM is not suitable for exterior surfaces that might be exposed to moisture infiltration or to interior areas subjected to high humidity unless adequate ventilation is provided. Maximum thickness on rigid overhead areas without mechanical support is 75 mm. Thickness of over 38 mm generally require treatment with primary adhesive. Wood surfaces or substrates covered with high-gloss or water emulsion paints may require treatment with primary adhesive. Substrates covered with dirt, loose scale, oil, peeling paint or other substances that would impair bonding must be cleaned or sand blasted, and checked for acceptable bonding properties before application of HiBAR. Consult with a HiBAR representative. Composition HiBARTM is a blend of specially manufactured inorganic mineral fibres and proprietary binders. The composite contains no asbestos or free crystalline silica. The following data reflect established HiBAR performance criteria - consult with the manufacturer for updated test information.
Availability HiBARTM is available throughout Canada. Contact our representative for advice on special circumstances or unusual geographic locations. Costs Cost of HiBARTM application will vary due to factors such as local labour, shipping, job size and unusual circumstances. Celufibre Industries warrants HiBARTM to meet published specifications. The applicator must warrant a specific application. HiBARTM requires no general maintenance. Building owner should periodically inspect fireproofed areas to ensure no material has been dislodged or damaged. HiBARTM is manufactured and distributed in Canada by Celufibre Industries. Celufibre has available complete technical information, specifications and related literature. Experienced, licensed applicators are available to provide assistance. Two master guide specifications are available. One is for applying HiBARTM for thermal or acoustical purposes (Section 07215); the other is for applying HiBARTM for fireproofing purposes (Section 07265). These sections are written in accordance with Construction Specifications Canada, Master Format, Section Format, and Page Format, for ease of use by specification writers. Specification / Filing Systems (Masterformat) Masterformat (1983) Section 07215 for thermal and/or acoustic application. Section 07265 for fireproofing applications.
