Hydro-seeding with Fibramulch, sometimes referred to as hydro-mulching, is a fast, efficient grass planting process which is frequently more effective and economical than conventional seeding. The process begins by mixing mulch, seed, fertilizer, and water in a tank. The material is then pumped from the tank and sprayed onto the ground. The mixed material is often referred to as a slurry and looks like a soupy batch of green paper mache.
Once applied to the soil, the material enhances initial growth by providing a micro-environment beneficial to seed germination or sprig development.
If the area to be planted is smooth and manicured, the resulting grass surface will also be smooth and manicured. Golf greens are frequently hydro-mulched with Fibramulch. Hydro-seeding will produce turf that is almost weed free. The only weed seed that can be introduced must come from seed or sprig contamination. With Fibramulch, you are guaranteed a 100% weed-free and uncontaminated mulch for hydro-seeding. However, weed seed is almost always present in the soil and when the moisture and fertilizers are applied, weeds can emerge.
